I hope to see Lincoln at some point. If I were to choose, it'd be Skyfall all the way. :)

I also think Watchmen is a terrible movie.
I do disagree with The Dark Knight Rises, it certainly met expectations in my opinion.
As for favorite movie, I haven't seen Lincoln yet, but it looks great. My favorite movie of 2012 is easily Argo though. That was just a fantastic movie and I can't help but get the feeling that it's going to be snubbed of many deserving awards for the Oscars. I'm still furious that Affleck wasn't nominated for Best Director on that movie.
Sanjura is a great movie, but I prefer Yojimbo.
I haven't seen Captain America, Thor or the Iron Man movies, but The Avengers was good, silly, stupid cartoon fun that I really enjoyed as a humorous action movie.
I was also surprised at how much I enjoyed the two Expendables movies. Both are great, stupid, silly fun.
Also, Skyfall is one of my most hated movies of all time. OF ALL TIME. It is the first time that I thought a movie I paid money for was so awful that I simply could not stay awake in the theater to watch it. And bless the scared girl on a date with her boyfriend/husband/whatever who kept being shocked, because she kept waking me up for 10 or 15 minute intervals of time where I saw how much I hated the movie. Then I fell asleep during the Home Alone finale, only to be woken up by explosions. I really dislike Skyfall.
@NeonNinja We have different tastes in movies (obviously games too) because I didn't care much for The Dark Knight Rises or The Expendables 2. I did like Skyfall. At least it seems we agree on The Avengers.
@NeonNinja Skyfall and Batman are the two biggest "high profile" films this year that I had absolutely zero interest in seeing. Your opinion of Skyfall confirms my suspicion that it would bore me to death.
Thing is, I liked Batman. I just rewatched Rises today to see how much I liked it. It's definitely up there for me. Argo remains my favorite, but after rewatching Rises I can confirm that it is the better movie, for me at least, when compared to all other superhero movies in a post-Dark Knight/Heath Ledger world.
But Skyfall? Yeah, I hated it.

I personally hate CG. It ruined Indiana Jones 4. That movie was garbage in general, but the excessive amounts of CG whereas the previous 3 had almost none made it even worse. Hobbit looks like the same thing... LOTR had CG but it wasn't overkill.
In general I'm a fan of movies that utilize as little CG as possible, unless said CG naturally enhances the film. For example, as far as my understanding goes, Prometheus used a lot of practical effects/prosthetic and only used CG when absolutely necessary. I think it made the film better.
Personally I couldn't even sit through Avatar (I hate that movie) and I don't really like any of James Cameron's films in general, but I won't go there. The Hobbit on the other hand just looks like a complete joke.
Understandable. I actually haven't seen The Hobbit because it looks dumb as hell. They're clearly milking it as a trilogy and I'm no sheep. I can wait a few years to see it. And I have to say, I'm not a fan of all the CG. If Nolan can make his movies sans CG (unless absolutely necessary) why do others have to rely on it so heavily? There's a difference between making a movie to push the limits of CG (Avatar) and using it as a crutch (The Hobbit).
I really don't want to see that movie at all.

I'll probably see Batman eventually, but I'm just not hyped for it at all. Can't explain, it just doesn't really appeal to me much right now and I can't be bothered to see it. Same as the Hobbit. I love the Lord of the Rings trilogy, but the Hobbit just looks bad.
@stripesonfire With that logic then wouldn't it be reasonable to suggest my opinion of Skyfall debunks your suspicion that it would bore you to death? Now you're back at neutral.
@usagi704 I naturally assumed that he wasn't hyped for it prerelease like myself, which lead me to the conclusion that I'd probably hate it as much as he does. I suppose you're right though, clearly my logic wasn't really fully thought out.

Yeah, I liked Sanjuro, but Yojimbo is the superior of the two by a large margin.
Once I knew I wanted to see The Avengers, I got caught up with all of the ones I haven't seen up to that point since they were building to said movie. I didn't expect Thor to be as fun of a watch as it was and Hemsworth was very likable as Thor.
I saw the first Expendables. I didn't think much of it. The kind of '80s/'90s action movies they were trying to be are usually more fun to watch than Expendables was.
Wow, brah! You hated Skyfall? I enjoyed it a good deal and think it is second best of the Craig Bond films and one of the better ones of the entire series. I really liked the increased focus of including M in the plot and Bardem as the villain was pretty damn good.
Oh, you didn't like The Expendables? Well brah, number 2 has the Muscles from Brussels FREAKING KICK A KNIFE INTO SOMEONE!

As far as Yojimbo and Sanjuro, I really wish that Kurosawa had made more movies with the characters as he wandered Japan. But both are great (even if Yojimbo is the genuine classic of the two).
I'm cool with Watchmen. And I'm saying that as someone who owned the (rather bulky) graphic novel. There were some all-too-typical change-ups in the story. But the movie managed to stick a Hell of alot closer to its source material than MOST movies of its genre.
As far as 2012 flicks? I liked The Dark Knight Rises and Prometheus. I know...giving props to Prometheus is gonna get some tomatoes thrown my way. But it wasn't bad. It just doesn't hold up to the hype nor Ridley Scott's earlier work (read: Blade Runner).

I have to agree with you usagi. People tell me to read the novel as well, but honestly, it was just a bad movie. I didn't like or sympathize with a single character. The events were just not compelling enough to interest me and it tried to paint everything in a shade of grey that felt so poorly done at the end of it.
As for Alien and Aliens... brah, COME ON! YOU DON'T LIKE THOSE TWO!? Not that I want to watch Prometheus, it looks weak, but ALIENS BRAH!
@usagi704 @NeonNinja Only character in Watchmen that I liked was Rorschach. Hated everyone else, especially Dr. Manhattan.
I didn't hate The Watchmen, but I didn't necessarily like it that much either. I was kind of pissed off with the way it ended. I guess I'm kind of neutral toward it. I'd probably have to see it again, but I'm not really sure that I'd ever want to.
@NeonNinja @usagi704Yeah, my dislike of Watchmen is certainly all about that I don't like Watchmen so reading the graphic novel won't change that. People don't seem to get that.

Watchmen was solid, it wasn't bad. I was really impressed with Lincoln though, im surprised Flight isn't on the list. As well with Argo. Those two movies you should really give a watch for sure in the upcoming months of 2013.
@Kid_Black_Star If a movie isn't on the list at the top of the blog post, then I didn't watch it or first watched it during a previous year (if it's older, of course).
2 Like I had no problems with Watchmen. I thought it was a fairly alright movie adaptation of the visual novel and among the crowd of "generic action heroes(TM)" it set itself apart quite well.
Likewise, I thought TDKR was alright as well. Big, loud and bloated but certainly not "the worst".
My favourite movie of 2012 was Moonrise Kingdom. I've yet to watch Django, Les Miserables, Zero Dark Thirty and The Master among a few others, so I'll keep that position unconfirmed for now.

F*** this piece of s***!" I couldn't stand any of the characters because they were either terrible people or they enabled terrible people. I didn't even finish it. Notice how I saw the final Twilight movie and it isn't even the winner of worst movie? Yeah, that says it all about how I feel about Watchmen.
I didn't call TDKR "the worst." It was disappointing to me, but I still think it is a good movie, just not anywhere near great.
I just saw Django Unchained as you probably noticed on Twitter. It isn't on the eligible list because I saw it in 2013. Rest assured it'll be up for consideration next time.
