    I don't play on handhelds...

I've slowly gotten away from Gamespot, partially because I hate the new profile redesign, heavy emphasis on trying to rid the community of posters, and how slow the site is. During my absense I have been trying out some new forums. Giantbomb and systemwars.com to be more precise. I really haven't taken a liking to GB, but SW.com is where I can see myself spending my time. The forums have little to no moderation but there are still rules and such. It's a very open forum, with a lot of consistent posters. Anyways, on to the topic title.

I have never been into handhelds but I was offered a deal I could not pass up.$115 got me:

A Sony PSP(older model) with case and extra USB to connect with my triple.

    • 32 MB mem stick(plan on upgrading later)
    • Burnout: Legends
    • Need for Speed: Most Wanted
    • GTA: LCS
    • Infected
    • Wipeout Pulse
    • Fifa 06
    • Spiderman 2
    • Movies(UMD): Spiderman 2, Ghostbusters, SWAT(sealed), House of Flying Dragons, Kung FU Hustle, and RoboCop(sealed)

Nintendo DS Lite boxed with extra stylus

    • Super Mario DS
    • F-Zero Max Velocity.

    Good deal, huh?

I also recently purchased 2 things on eBay, both to add to my collection.
    MGS collectibles(liquid and Ocelot)

Yeaup, thumbs up to you if you knew what that was before looking at the label. It is indeed a New SNK Geo Pocket Color. Bought it on eBay for $15 with Sonic and Pacman.

I think that's all I got for today, thanks for reading.

    Microsoft's Xbox 'support' [UPDATE]

My experience with the whole broken xbox 360 debacle has been absolutely terrible.

July 1, 2008: My xbox gets one ring of death, xbox support only fixes three rings...red ring costs $110 extra.

July 2, 2008: Call MS back, get them to repair console...deceptively.

July 5, 2008: Get a call from MS, saying I need to call back as I "do not have a valid posting address".

July 6, 2008: Call MS back, reconfirm my address.

July 9, 2008: Yet to receive anything, call MS back...now I must change my shipping address. At this point I'm kind of angry, but whatever...I give them my work address.

July 10, 2008: Get an email from Microsoft and UPS confirming my shipping label, open it up and BAM error code...kind of funny, actually. I get on the phone with Microsoft and tell them what's up...about my error code in the email. The customer support lady explains to me that they're having trouble and that she'll just send it through the mail and it should be here, Tuesday the 15th.

    July 15, 2008: Nothing arrives.

July 26, 2008: No email, no letter in the mail...no shipping label whatsoever. I call up microsoft, and talk to some guy who says he'll send the shipping address through my email within the next 24 hours, but wait he is having trouble processing the order, so once again he tells me to recall back in an hour...worst customer support experience ever. I have spent well over 2 hours on the phone, either holding or talking to somebody who continuously goes over the same process again and again....and I still have my damn xbox sitting in front of me . I am fed up, to say the least.

On something completely different, The Dark Knight was excellent.

UPDATE: After a 45 minute phone call and about 3 days I have received a box with everything in it. It was actually pretty nice, they included packaging protection, the shipping label, directions and even tape. Well off to Texas she goes, hopefully will be back in a couple weeks. I feel so relieved, .

    Post E3 - Sony's Press Conference.

Sony wanted to get one thing across at this E3, and that is yes, the PS3 has games and they expressed this by actually showing them. Jack Tretton was a real cool, calm, and comprehensive speaker and I enjoyed him. They didn't toy around too much with sales mumbo jumbo(maybe because it wouldn't have looked good if they had), but at least while they did they presented it in a good way using Little Big Planet's level creator instead of a powerpoint or something.

Sony showed a big montage of games to start off the conference, I recall seeing titles already out like MGS4 and ones coming this holiday such as Motorstorm 2 and Socom: confrontation. I believe I also saw a brief glimpse of KZ2, but it seemed to take backstage to Sony's other exclusive shooter, Resistance. They showed two separate clips of it, one being a heavily scripted gameplay footage as well as a really sweet trailer. This and Gears are now my two most anticipated shooters this year.Sony also announced a larger HD for the $399 unit and the return of Greatest Hits. I really don't care about the former(as I already have a PS3), but the latter is very nice...though kind of expected. I guess I've held off buying the original R:FoM and Warhawk for a reason. Sony also pushed for digital distribution, including PSN games and they immediately had a response to Microsoft's Netflix deal as they also had a new movie distribution plan to show....coming that night.

The PS2 and PSP were also represented at the conference. The first real big announcement of the afternoon was Resistance: Retribution for the PSP. LocoRoco 2, Patapon 2, and Stardust HD were also shown and they all look really good. Honestly I was a little worried for the PSP's future prior to E3, but now I plan on getting one soon with all the new announcements and games that I was already interested in(MGS: PO, Daxter, and Syphon Filter).

After showing a few PSN games, including Ratchet Quest for Booty and Siren, Sony went back to their flagship platform, the PS3. They talked a bit about MMOs, including something we haven't seen in a couple of years...the DC comics MMO. Though MMOs aren't my thing, it seemed to be an interesting concept. New Infamous gameplay was shown, and it looked hella cool. God of War III was then shown, and although it was just a small teaser trailer, they did at least they did work up something to show to fans. MAG, Zipper's new game, was the final showing for Sony. 256 players at once is really crazy, and I hope Zipper can somehow make it work and hopefully they can do it soon without having to charge for server maintenance.

As you can see, this blog is pretty much about my thoughts on the new games showed, because that's mostly what Sony did. They showed a bunch of games. It was by far the best and most enjoyable of the three...even if there wasn't any big blockbusters that would steal the show. Though the conference wasn't without it's disappointments. Where was Naughty Dog? Where was Heavy Rain and what about the new Team ICO project? Despite their absences, it was still a solid conference filled with lots of games.
