Here I occasionally write about random stuff. Not very descriptive, I know, but I guess it's my Gamespot profile so I'll keep all discussions game-related. Most of my talks will be about PC and 360 gaming, but I might throw some other stuff in there, also.

Moving forward to return to the past
It's been a VERY long time since I last posted here at Gamespot. Now that I think about it, I really don't feel like making GS my home; I like GameFAQs much more. Other things have changed since my last post. I now go to college, and my PC gaming is now done on a Toshiba laptop that is marginally better than my family's home desktop for gaming. So with all this extra computing power, what games have I been playing lately?
Nothing new, really. I've gotten back into the old stuff. Within my first week of college, I was readdicted to RollerCoaster Tycoon 2, and I started playing Worms Armageddon again. I played Age of Empires II against a human player for the first time in over a year. Now winter break is here (and almost over), and I recented got addicted to Rome: Total War, and I went out to buy The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind for the PC (oh my God, it's even better than the Xbox version).
I don't know why I've been tinkering with these old games so much. Maybe I'm going through a nostalgia phase, or maybe I'm just trying to squeeze every last bit of value out of them. You can't deny that these games are fun, though.
I guess it hasn't ALL been old stuff. I still have my 360, and recently picked up the Orange Box. I never bothered to finish Half Life 2 for the Xbox, but now that I've forced myself to play through the beginning, I think I can appreciate it a bit more. Only problem is that I checkpointed with 1 health and now I can't get past this next part... I guess I'll try tomorrow. I look forward to unlocking 99 achievements.

A one MMO man is what I want to be...
...but there's two perfect ones for me. And another with which I flirt.
I love Guild Wars. Admittedly, I don't play it as much as I used to, but it's just amazing that I can come back after a couple of weeks and not have to worry about a $15 fee waiting for me. That and I like the instanced style of gameplay, which is very different from most other MMORPGs.
That being said, I've recently been looking for another one to play. Maybe it's just my nature to hate what everyone else likes, but I've been deadset against World of Warcraft from the beginning. I'm not a big fan of Blizzard. (I loved Warcraft II, but might be the only person in the world who didn't enjoy Diablo 2.) There were a few other titles I considered. Auto Assault was a very cool 14 day trial, and I actually managed to get 2 free copies of the game (limited edition came with a headset, too). But there just seemed to be something missing. Same thing with City of Heroes/Villains.
I finally broke down and tried the 10 day free trail of WoW that came with my copy of Diablo 2... and was bored to death. I only got to level 20, but I am not exaggerating when I say that the game put me to sleep a couple of times. (I could stay up all night playing GW, but WoW... *shudder*)
But I think I've finally found the solution. I picked up Lord of the Rings Online on a whim a week ago, and I haven't been this hooked on a computer game since Guild Wars. Yes, it's sort of like WoW, but it's so different at the same time. I've never been a LoTR fan (I haven't even read the books), but there's something fun about attacking enemies with the power of music as a Ministrel.

Although I guess I get the best of both worlds. A friend gave me his password for his WoW account, and we can now share it. For LoTRO, look for a Champion named Kierce on Windfola. On WoW, look for a Priest named Adahan on... I honestly don't know what server. Oh well.

Dancing to the Universe
I'm not, by any account, a dancer. Yet I could never fail to be impressed by the people who were on those little stepping machines in the arcades, performing seemingly complicated dance moves to the beat of a song.
You might know where this is going. A couple of weeks ago I broke down and purchased a copy of DDR Universe for the 360. And I'm hooked. It's such a simplistic game, yet it has that crazy aura to it. I don't know why I find it so fun. As of now I'm not so good... The Difficult level songs rarely pose a challenge, but a majority of the Expert level songs allude me. And don't get me started on *shudder* Oni mode.
Still, I'm proud of comboing the first 186 steps of Cascada's Every Time We Touch (only a REAL man dances to that song), and I just I'll start working on passing individual songs soon. (I've always played random songs, so I've had to rely on sight dancing.) One day, I hope to pass an Oni, but I'll let that time comes of its own accord.
I guess it's also worthwhile to mention that the Halo 2 maps Tombstone and Desolation were released. I think the servers are swamped, so I haven't been able to download them yet... But I'm getting them ASAP.
Oh yeah, and I found a copy of Big Bumpin', the Burger King game a few days ago. It's about as dumb as Sneak King, but picking it up means I only need Pocketbike Racers to complete the collection. Not sure why I want them all. If only I had gotten them when I had the chance...

Ristar Boss Rush Super Mode
A video of me playing Boss Rush in Super mode. Maybe the hardest challenge in the game, as you must face every boss in succession without taking a hit. Video taken from gameplay on Steve Snake's Fusion emulator (sorry, my Genesis is broken).
