Well, I'm one of the 90% people stuck there.
I wanted to ask the pros here to see where I can improve to finally get this plat.
    Here's what I do:

Round 1: No biggie. Lock-on Laser on the RI's and the use the shotgun against the Viper. Easy.

Round 2: From behind the statue, I throw grenades at the RI's spawn points hoping the catch them, then use the HMG with the Bogey. By the time the flyers get near me I use one EMP to take them out and then keep attacking the Bogey.

Round 3: I usually lose here. I hide in some ruins to the right and when they start spawning I throw one EMP and then hope to be in an optimal angle to destroy the Fire Romanov's tank. I HAVEN'T TRIED to get the Disk Launcher yet to decapitate them, I'm pretty sure by now that makes the whole difference here.

Round 4: I only got here twice and in both I got butchered. Can't do much here.

That's pretty much of it. Any advice would be very appreciated.
I also took some advices from a couple of videos but most of the time I just don't find myself in those same situations.

    Thanks in advance.

Let's take a look. First of, I'll give you advice for all rounds. Mostly because making previous rounds go by faster and easier makes you get to the latter rounds better equipped and less mentally drained.

Round 1: Exchange your Assault Rifle for LFE gun. Dash to the spawns and LFE them as the Gorgies spawn. Not too hard. Takes a few tries to get down but takes off a lot of time and chance you'll have to do cleanup afterwards. Viper is indeed very easy. HMG>Shotgun FireCancel deals insane damage. The second he falls to his knees do melee, you'll have recovered before he does from it.

Round 2: Perfect strategy; my personal favorite. Don't take cover behind the statue though, simply stand behind it and take pop shots.
Also nice trick is that you can actually (almost) instakill that Bogey. Once he falls to his knees it's actually possible to headshot him with a boost-melee, the actual tip of the animation has to hit him; so do the attack from a long distance. Even still, a boost-melee deals 40% damage to him.

Round 3: There are a ton of tactics here. Sometimes I just pop a cigar in my mouth and shotgun them all to robot-hell. But that's not the smartest and safest option. You've already found that one; Disc-launcher. Use AR mode to aim for their heads and then take cover somewhere smart.
Basically you start like this: start near the round1 begin point. The second "Challenge6: Round3" dissapears throw a REGULAR grenade into the Gorgie spawn. They'll die. Wait for a few seconds behind cover and let the Flame Romanov get close.
AR-HMG his backpack to kill him. After this just AR-disc some heads and wait for them to suicide (without heads they'll die after a minute or so).

Round 4: start near the beginning again. LFE the rollers as they are vulnerable when they spawn. Quickly go to the outer ring of the level (right to the statue from the starting point) and you'll see a turret spawn. Kill it's pilot. Then quickly focus on the other pilot.
Once those are done it's just you, your HMG-Shotgun combo and two BIA's and a lot of blues.
LFE does wonders against them too, kills blues in about two shots and can seriously stun BIA's. Once all the blues are gone you can use the LFE to stun both BIA's, melee them, LFE them 3 times, melee them again, etc. For the rest keep your distance against BIA's unless you REALLY know what you're doing. They are killer in melee.
This part is a bit of a grind unless you want to use 6 rockets, as these guys have a ton of health.

Round 5: pop an EMP near the start of the level to expose the rollers. LFE them to death. Do NOT focus on the Bogey's until the rollers are gone. After which, it's up to you. The Bogey's are a mission on their own and are set to Hard Difficulty. There's not as much cover as in 5-3 so it's harder.
Play a bit of 5-3 without using cover on hard. Learn their callsigns for attacks and when to use Rockets safely. I can give you tips here, but this part is best left discovered on your own as you really need your musclememory to see you through here.

    Good luck!

One thing that for me made the whole difference in Round 3: decapitate the purple beam Romanov FIRST. That guy is by far the worst threat. He will hit you no matter where you stand. Everyone else either has to be close to damage you (drill and fire guys), or you can see their projectiles coming a mile away (the big missile guy).

    Also, aim carefully... >.>

    And this time!

Thanks, now I can clear Round 3 with no problems at all. Right now I'm on Round 4 taking my time before tackling those rollers the moment they spawn. From there I hope I don't have much problems with the BIAS playing correctly, at least until the 2 Bogeys.

    Here I come.

Change of tactics: the rollers MUST DIE FIRST. The blue guys arenīt much of a problem.

LFE the Rollers first, then boost dodge over to the first turret, kill him ASAP. Focus on the second turret coming in from the right side after that, they are your priority at that point. The flyboys and BIAs can easily be avoided while picking away at them, think of that as your breather time before the last wave. Good luck!

No more for today, I'm mentally to tired. I'll continue in a couple of hours or tomorrow. At least now the first 3 rounds are a piece of cake and the 4th is normal.

In 5 I can take the rollers at the start of the level but I can't see where the other group spawn. I find the LoL useful here but I can't see if its more powerful than the HMG or not, both are good weapons here.

Well, I'm almost there, gotta keep trying.

    My report for today:

Thank you so much both of your for your advices. I couldn't complete the challenge today, but I did make a lot of progress. Now my only problem are the Bogeys obviosly. I much of the time the rollers weren't much of a problem. Just EMP here, LFE there and at least one group is gone. The Lock on Laser is useful but sometimes I just can't grab it in time.
Well, that and obviously the fact I have to worry about evading two bosses and being worried of attacking them when the slightiest mistake is deadly... but that's why I love it.

Anyways, can't expect to finish in on my first day, gotta keep trying tomorrow, I'm really getting the hang of it.
Thanks again guys, I'll tell you when I finish it.

What helped me out a lot was realizing just how crap the Lock-on-Launcher was against them. The damage was just too low.
My personal recommendation for the fight is:

    * Focus on the Red Bogey. He's the one with the two insane damaging moves (super laser and sniper). Keep your eyes at him at all times and at the Blue one atleast through your radar.
    * Keep the Rocket Launcher as a super punish for when the Red Bogey charges his super laser. It should hit him before the laser even hits you and he can't dodge due to him being in that animation.
    * Use the HMG and Shotgun combo to kill them. Shotgun does insane damage to them up close.
    * You CAN EMP-slide-stun them to death. Use the EMP-slide (Boost+EMP) to get them to their knees, follow up with a HMG>Shotgun firecancel, dodge back, ARS shotgun shot, EMPslide again.

    Good luck!

The LoL is that bad? that's good to know. And here I was trying my best to get it since it never missed. And I normally use the Rocket Launcher with the BIAS but I heard the red Bogey drops ammo for it.

The LoL has a terrible damage output, and in the double Bogey case you want them dead fast. The HMG does a ton of damage to them, as does the shotgun. Both of which you can easily aim in ARS mode.

Excuse me guys, I just wanted to show you this.

    http://i50.tinypic.com/303fg60.jpg

    Thank you so much!
I left the red Bogey for the end and it was so intense, there was this "All or nothing!" moment when I wasn't thinking, just acting and against all odds tried a boost melee kick... and I won. Man I'm still shaking.
This is by far the most rewarding platinum I have got, it really feels like a real achievment seeing the difficulty of it.

Ahh... I need some rest... really...
Again, thank you so much for your advice.

I haven't done this yet. One of my friends borrowed the game for like a year and never gave it back, I just asked him to give it to me after reading this topic.

I'm rusty so it might take a while

Challenge 6 down. How about God Hard?
  • Feb 2, 2013 4:30 pm GMT
Yeah, thought about God Hard and I will do it, but after playing Challenge 6, I just want to take a rest from Vanquish for a while. But I really want to play God Hard.

The skills that you got from Challenge 6 is good training for GH. Be prepared for a more intense and frustrating time, though the game makes up for it by giving you a checkpoint after each fight. As long as you're persistent you can keep trucking forward.
