Ryan Davis, Tom McShea and Peter Brown talk about why Resident Evil can't please anyone, Cliff Bleszinki's departure and Nintendo's killer app.
where did this show go , it was great at least a heck of allot better than the other podcast
Can you replace Tom McShea in this feature? He's uninformed and overly negative about people that actually make games.
@DeadDorf Tom McShea is the best please let him be! Its because when Ryan Davis is in the house, everyone listens.
Actually, I think Tom fits right in here- you need people with varying opinions, not just ones you agree with.
Ryan is a nice addition but gs needs to get him his own show because he can not stop interrupting LOL, only other problem like many of the posters below me -too many f-bombs. Do have to agree with him on Singularity being underrated and that Activision - well, in an effort to keep it clean, I'll have to avoid commenting except to say, I strongly agree with Ryan's take on them. I agree with Tom on RandyP.- he's shallow and insincere in my opinion.
Interesting show- too bad gs doesn't advertise it well enough for me to catch it on a regular basis.
Yeah, the interrupting is a bit annoying. Sure it's no less annoying for those he's broadcasting with. I'm not totally bashing him, he is interesting overall and has an energy to him, but entertaining/energy or not- I still don't want to hear f-this, f-that, interrupt all the time. No one's perfect, perhaps he just had too much caffeine that day lol- I've not seen but just this one episode, so I don't know if it's the norm for him.
A big part of ea not selling well is more than just 'new ip or no new ips'. Origin is a big killer for their sells. There are still a lot of people refusing to download it, which kill sells to an extent for games requiring it. Craptastic customer service being another biggie that has burnt enough gamers to make them swear off ea altogether, not to mention the rage for some over murdering games/companies they acquire. Still there are some that refuse to buy a $60 dollar game and ea seems to love that price tag (their motto being 'charge more for less'). These things matter to me and many other gamers before whether it's a new ip or not. They corrode everything they touch, won't matter if it's a new ip or not if these other factors are still in play. They're so out of touch with gamers.
For some reason they've not learned from Gabe/Valve that doing right by your customers/keeping them happy will make you rich.
Totally agree- Gabe/Valve are putting on a clinic- watch and learn.
Why do people think Cliff is good looking?? I'm not saying he's a dog or anything- he's just not all that.
Agree with everything you said about ea- I'll avoid commenting on it in an effort to keep my blood pressure down lol! Can't stand them- or Activision, or Ubi..... ugh... excuse me while I go count to ten....
I wonder what's happening, whenever I watch long videos, it works for a while and then suddenly green screen and weird glitchy sounds and it skips ahead. I recently installed win 7 64bit.
Isn't xbox taking the wrong step by moving towards the :entertainment district"; they're betting a lot of money and support on things that might not be readily available nextgen. If there aim is to create the image that the xbox is for the family and not for a gamer, then why not bank on their movie services and the kinect; lower the price of both.
I just started watching these since Ryan was on (seen 2 so far). PLEASE MAKE HIM A PERMANENT HOST
Gamespot really needs to do a better job at promoting Quoted for Truth. I see this episode and think oh great it's back but after watching the intro I find out there was an episode last week featuring Ryan Davis that I missed.
So I was keeping an eye out for new episodes and still missed it, so I can see the show having trouble attracting new viewers.
Then to find the episode I missed I had to use the site's awful search system instead of the show having it's own page on the site.
Agreed, I've missed a lot of episodes because I forgot when it came on.
more Ryan Davis please,,
I also would like to see more other GS Vets like VanOrd, McShea, Gerstmann, Watters in the flesh for this show.
Quoted for truth is supposed to be gladiator arena for vets, not rookies.
=P
Davis killed it this episode. Love listening to this man ramble. Much love from Canada.
I can't believe how biase some people can be. " because I grown up around cars I am familiar with cars and I learned to drive one easily, so the japanese is unfamilar with the westrn shootera so they made a shooter that doesn't work well." is what he said. So he basicly saying that capcom try to imitate the western shooters. Ever thought maybe you are too used to western shooters that maybe you are unfamiliar with a shooter made by the Japanese. Maybe you are even playing it wrong because the controls are different than call of duty or uncharted. This video about re6 was totally biase. I hate this website now. I personally think both japanese and americans bith make good games and I learn to understand both worlds. You on the other han clearly don't. you should not be saying that capcom is a imitation of western games. That is wrong.

actually a lot of people buy cod for single player campaign. bf3's single player helped me get used to the controlls and recoil to be able to play mp....so you just can't dismiss it
Single Player Here :) -and yes I've bought cod, bf, ut3Black, lfd/2, cs: go, ect. mp popular titles that I've and many of my friends never put a single minute into the mp at all- sp only. Not everyone likes the same things. No wrong way to play it (if it's leagal) so long as you enjoy it.
Woohoo, did someone say single player?! :) *All Single Player* -for me at least. I don't like other people in my games, that's my time away from the world and I don't like to share it.
There are single players like me that that's all they do, but also like you said there are others that use sp to get used to the controls or familiarize themselves with maps that others have already memorized.
I've never understood the appeal of playing with random strangers online, (seems every jerk in the world has internet access lol) and while there are good people in online play, it unfortunately seems rarer to run into those than kids or adults that act like kids that are the worst examples of humanity. I can see appeal for some mp's to play with friends though. To each their own.
That's at least the 2nd time I've heard that -personally I don't see it, he's -o.k., I'm not trashing his looks, I just don't think it's all I've heard it played up to be -just my opinion.
34:55 i quit Resident Evil 5 after the 1st hour for not being able to move and shoot. Incredibly frustrating; rather than raise tension it felt like a handicap more than anything else. Putting the player in a position to not effetely defend himself is not a progressive move but rather stagnant or regressive.
I quit Resident Evil 5 in about an hour- maybe a little less- for the same reason.
@Derugs Same here. It felt like an artificial barrier, like they couldn't create tension naturally, so they decided to cripple the player instead.
@Derugs Not having a dedicated melee always seemed awkward too. I don't see why taking the formula they had originally and giving you the ability to move and shoot and perform a push back or some other melee was just so impossible without breaking the game formula completely.
"Hey me too" pretty much describes a lot of whats wrong with the gaming industry these days.
How do you get from Jedi Outcast to Call of Duty maps???
Oh dear Ravensoft, I just shed a tear.
Sweet, got a mention on the show. Tom even said my name the way I think of it. Nice.
If Reggie "Donkey Kong" Fils-Aime has hands that he can grab two basketballs with, that would explain the size of the WiiU controller - for him it's tiny ;)
I think Fornite was what broke cliffs back. It looks boring and designed to tick marketing tick box. universal game presentation (check) multiplayer (check) survival horror (check) ... no doubt there's kinect support in there too
what you said, ryan, "just make the games good." I completely agree with that. Why can't they just make the games good? if they have the money, then necessarily they have some time. I would rather EA make a freakin 4 hr indie game that was completely baddass than a 60 dollar game with "new elements" that ends up a stale experience.
good comparison on EA to Nintendo, Nintendo does reuse the same ip franchise but they spread them so far apart by the time we want another game of that particular ip its years or a console after. EA comes out with a New game for the same ip every single year which kills the longevity of that franchise
