The costume design issue can be fixed if you get the costume pack. The voice work was never intended to be "seriously anime cool" like other fighters.

I think that they can make these characters work though. Alot of personality is lost cutting those intros out unfoutunately. Granted some need a face lift though. CoughCoughLionCoughJeffery.

The sound in general is pretty lacking. But, I'm not sure how anybody in QA allowed the voice acting to continue to be repeatedly terribad by basically all accounts. Even the Japanese voice acting could be better. Why does the announcer's voice have clipping? CLIPPING!? I think they were trying to go for an announcer actually speaking into a microphone, but...it's just too much. And it kind of sounds cheap.
And, dem sfx? Really?
I think that Sega really needs to give some love to the peripheral items of the gaming experience. I actually like the aesthetics and can't really complain that much about the fighting system. But, there's really no character interaction, nor real plot. There's something printed in the instruction manual, kind of. But...
There's a lot of sou missing from this franchise.

the new blocking sfx is satisfying, and i do like the effort of putting a lot more verity in them, hard hits sound more powerful, gaurd beaks sound very prevalent, etc. personally i get lost in the action and don't really notice it, granted i do wish they change up the cliche 'psh, psh, bat' effects and evading sounds like windex, but others like the slam downs, hard meaty hits, and wall splats; sound gratifying to me.i wouldn't mind keeping some of these, only making them sound heavier.
far as voice acting its definitely a hit or miss, i have a hard time not liking jackies energy, 'less talk more ACTION!' awesome.... 'YEEEAAAAAHHHHH' not so much. and *^$% like what kage say's during his sheruken chain combo is crazy cool, more junk like this would totally make the game stand out more; blaze breathing fire, attacks going straight threw a guard, pai having a back attack, *&$% like this feels like AM2 is trying to have more personality played out in the fight, and to say this game straight out doesn't have any, kind of erks me. but stuff to completely ruin it like with lion's whiney ass voice screeching 'i did it!'lol, or jeffery's 'GET-AWAY' so needs to change.
man i just really want them to nail the formula, i know they can, its almost there, i will have at least one absolute perfect sega game before it all ends.

I will never understand why they made El Blaze sound like some surfer guy. But I think one of Vanessa's quotes is the worst: "On the battlefield...YOU'LL BE DEAD!" O_O
It would help if they put some effort into the background of these bland fighters.

I don't think it's that fun but one of the biggest reasons I'm not a huge VF fan is because the characters have no personality. If VF6 had a story mode I could really get into this series

Every couple months this johnson stain Sonic comes in here and makes some troll pro-Tekken Anti VF post. If you losers were so impressed with Tekken ,you wouldn't be dragging your sorry behinds in here. They claimed Tekken Tag 2 was supposed to be the second coming and it would shut VF FS down. Hasn't happened. While we are talking about Tekken,the Animation SUCKS and it looks like it was done by the "TEAM AMERICA World Police " Puppeteers. Tekken character art looks like crap and it was done by a special-ed high school student. With every iteration of VF, the Character art design gets more life like and the quality goes up. Tekken has sported the same deformed body design and Wooden faces since Tekken 3.
Case in point, Tekken X Street Fighter will look like crap because the Tekken art Teamcant draw worth a damn. They are going to have the WORST Street Fighter 3D models since street Fighter EX, because Tekken Team SUCKS at art.
If VF's character design is so "bland" Ask Namco why they keep ripping it off. Even capcom stooped to ripping off VF: EL Fuerete is a Rip Off of EL BLAZE. Tekmken is "VF for Special Ed students"..

Saying VF's character design is hypocritical BS fabricated by fanboys of other series. Look at Ken, just a surfer dude in a red go, but if you play Ssf4 online , it's littered with them. You could say " oh Ken was designed in 1986 for a 1987 arcade game as an excuse. Ten years later however, cap on didnt get that more original . Yin and Yun in SF3 are simple Chinese teenagers with baseball caps. A decade later Abel in SF4 is just a guy in gym clothes with a scar on his nose. Crimson Viper is just a girl in a suit. Simple . Simple works. If you want to add a negative connotation and be a fanboy jerk, you can exchange "simple" with " bland". In all fighting games, it is more important to have visceral. , jarring. , brutal show stopping move sets than merely having flashy costumes. Only n00bs don't know that.
I'm learning Jacky and Jean Kujo now and as basic as their character designs are , their fighting styles are vastly different and exude their personality. Jacky's moves are fast flashy and powerful. It's awesome how he shows off his personality , when he lands a heavy hit, he does a little swagger and taunts. If you actually pay attention , he was always like that since VF2 . Jean is strict and disciplined, and he does kata gestures after he lands a brutal hit. His moves are powerful and his many charge moves display that, as do his guard breakers. Calling them "bland" or "generic" is an ignorant narrow minded remark and sells the characters short.
