Check out the debut trailer for Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown coming to Xbox Live Arcade and the PlayStation Network in 2012.
did i read 'no disk release' correct as in 'no disk release' ? that settles it then :( i'm sick of the licensing bs that wont let me play what i bought where i wanna play it on all of my accounts since i effin bought it ... no disk release = no can do
VF is one of my favorite fighters... but if there is no disk release, I won't be able to get it. That blows.
i am not a big VF fan, but i love how all the characters stay true to themselves. unlike Tekken and SF, which are full of jokes and silly themes nowadays lol i still love tekken to bits though :P good trailer btw! wish it had a disc release, would have given it a chance :( oh well...
Finally, this one of the best fighting games ever. you actually can recognzie each fighter using an authentic martial arts style. I must buy
Loved this on the PS2, but for some strange reason I did not enjoy the 360 version. I guess I have less time for fighting games, memorizing the move list for all characters. Can't invest the time.
Hmm, may have to look into this. Granted, the graphics are dated, but being download only makes me think they won't be selling it for big bucks anyway. Had a lot of fun with 4, even if Tekken 5 took a bit more of my time on the PS2. Heh, actually, I kinda wish it were VF crossing over with Tekken instead. Two 3D fighters would make more sense, at any rate!
the graphics do look rather stale but give it a go first peeps it might be worth bearing the animations look really smooth a and fluid
@ AJ2502 kid you clearly need to learn a bit of game history... stating that Virtua Fighter has copied from tekken is like saying that wolfenstein 3D had copied from Call of Duty...
Meh. I hate techy fighters. Give me Mortal Kombat anyday. Something fun with a fantastical story and lots of gore. Old school Killer Instinct, Bloody Roar. Good times. I just wanna fill the screen with crazy moves, not worry about when to block and use "reversals."
4 was the most technically advanced fighting game I've every played. Looks awesome minus the graphics
seems like the only fighting game where women are allowed to bring their own clothes, though one of them forgot to button her shirt
Was wondering when the next VF was comin out, good to hear. Although they showed nothing new at all, maybe next trailer.
I am so disappointed, why sega why "Digital download only" please you have to make this a Blu Ray release or I will destroy my copy of VF5 and never buy another Sega game ever again, I will even take a hammer to the Dreamcast and smash it, frikking Saturn was better anyways.
First of all that comes to my eyes is the poor graphics!!!!!! Aren't we in 2011 or i am missing something?!?! Cmon get serious SEGA and make me buy this game not only because of the game play!!! But have to admit that the trailer looks good.
Do fights really play out like that? That's a lot of parries, reversals, and count-counter reversals. Would be interesting if it does cuz the Virtua Fighter team always pulled that off masterfully (best fighting series imo). Looking forward to it.
Why is my beloved Virtua Fighter always late to the party? the fighting game frenzy will be dead by next summer, with 5 new SF4's, MK9, TekTag2, SFXTK, UMVC3, SC5 I mean seriously I left out GG & KOF cause only the hardest of the hardcore play those 2, I mean really what new gameplay improvements does this bring to the table, this should have hit in 2009 or early 2010 the graphics are 4 years behind everything else on the market sega u know better!
I never liked that serie. Gameplay doesnt have too much versatility like the tekken serie. And story is non existant.
REQUEST: 1) ONLINE world mode, where lobbies are according to player skill, and people can vote after a match if the player is too good or not good enough to be in the respective arcade. No need to ban people, just show the rating (vote) of the player by the users to let people know ahead of time. This is important because if I'm learning a new character, I'll join a novice room, if I'm play my main I may join an intermediate room (Arcade). 2) ALLOW us to select and switch character without resetting the profile. Somewhat like SSF4, PP (player) vs. BP (character). I agree with the posts here. The most passionate fighting fans may buy it and give a nice ride, but what are the gameplay improvements or new additions (content, etc...). Two characters that I'll not use is not a great incentive. One is not my style, the sumo guy, I didn't even notice his absence in VF5, and I loved VF3 (DC). The other is not appealing to me. VF5 required me to really focus on very few characters, and honestly, I've only mastered Brad, and maybe Lion. I love Akira and Vanessa, but I'm not as good with them as I'd like to be. A few characters like Sarah, Jack, Lau aka Tao-Pai-Pai ;) and Pai are easy to pick up and play, so I'm decent with them.
Had a lot of fun with the original VF5. But what are the improvements here, 2 characters, an online mode?
