World of Outlaws: Sprint Cars is one of the rare sprint cars video games having been released. Few of them were good. This one is not so different from them.
All drivers are there, including Saldana, Kinser, Meyers, Kemenah, Schatz, name them. They are with their cars of 2010, which can differ from the ones they are running now. If you are a true fan, you will still recognize them though. If you are not, you will probably just not remark the differences.
There are around 12 tracks, all real tracks from all around the United States. From The Dirt Track at Charlotte to Silver Dollar, passing by I-96 Speedway. That's pretty cool even if they could have put more of them.
The events are split between special challenges, head 2 head and races. Accuracy challenge are the easiest ones. You only have to not touch anything the whole race, which lasts about 8 laps. There is a mode in which you have to go 1st as fast as you can. There is a challenge in which you cannot do a slower lap time than the one set by the game. The "real" races weekend include warm-up, time-trial, heat, dash, b-main and a-main. The length of the races vary depending on the track and the event itself.
The tracks banking differ from each one which make it more realistic and more funny at the same time. You have a certain amount of tear-offs in each races.
The graphics are dating from at least 5-6 years. The sound is poor. But the most disappointing thing is that when you go close to a wall, the game lags and makes it very difficult to handle. It is very easy to lose the control, and even easier to lose it when the game lags. So, in addition to battle against the cars, you have to battle against the console, which is very sad. That's why the game is very difficult at some time and very easy some other time.
You can upgrade your car by buying few pieces. The cash you win will be well over what you need in fact to buy all the pieces. You can also change the painting and sponsors on your car.
There was nobody on Xbox live, so if you want to play multiplayer, you have to play local. There are few modes, which all look like the tag game. They are good for a night, but will be bored of them after few hours.
Globally, the game itself would not be so bad if it would have been correctly implemented. The code optimization is missing, and that hurts the game a lot. The difficulty of the events is so different, going from too easy to too hard. I would say don't waste your money on this game.
