World Series Baseball 2K3 is not just a baseball game for the Xbox. It is, in my opinion, the absolute best baseball game to ever be created, for any platform.
Why exactly would I say that, you ask? Simple, really. World Series Baseball 2K3 is packed with features that every great baseball game should have: great gameplay that is, realistically speaking, easy to get a handle on yet shows you that it's rather hard to put the controller down because it's so damn addictive, solid graphics, authentic sound and voices, and phenomenal replay value, all combining to make one heck of a baseball game.
In terms of gameplay, World Series Baseball 2K3 is an easy game to get into. A few minutes and you'll be swinging for the fences like a pro (assuming you aren't playing at the hardest difficulty level, of course). World Series Baseball 2K3, for nearly every second I played it, was a complete blast to play. Baseball in real life can just drag on and on (with 9 innings and all), but in this game it's actually fun.
Graphics-wise, World Series Baseball 2K3 looks great. The players are detailed, the stadiums look fine, but, as usual, the crowd looks like crap (which is really the only negative aspect of the graphics in this game, but what sports game has sported a good-looking crowd?). The frame-rate, for the most part, does not disappoint, as the game runs at a consistently high rate most of the time (above 30 but not exactly at 60... if I were to guess, I'd probably put it at 40-45, which is pretty damn good).
The sound in World Series Baseball 2K3 is just fine. The crowd will make noises once in a while (like they'd mock a player by saying something bad about him), the P.A. doesn't really bother you, and the announcers are good (but they will say stuff a million times over and over, so it gets repetitive at times). All in all, it's pretty true to the game of baseball in real life.
World Series Baseball 2K3, when you take into consideration that it does not feature any online modes of the sort, has some pretty unbelievable replay value. I've played this game for a ton of hours to date and have honestly never really become bored or tired of it. It's purely fun to just take a team and play 9 innings or even several franchise years. The lack of online play obviously does hurt it, but it, regardless, features a tremendous amount of replayability.
Overall, World Series Baseball 2K3 for the Xbox is simply a gem of a baseball video game. Combining gameplay that is easy to get into, solid graphics, sound and music that fits with this game, and a large amount of replay value, even when you realize there's no online gameplay modes of any kind, World Series Baseball 2K3, after playing it, will make you realize why this is the best baseball game of all-time.
