According to Ben Wilson's Twitter (editor of the Official Playstation Magazine UK) WWE has an out clause in their contract with THQ which allows them to select a new publisher, and a new deal is imminent.

His other tweets seem to point towards EA being the new publisher and doing development in-house (which would mean the end of Yuke's.) I guess we'll find out soon.

Looks like WWE '13 is the end of the line for the Smackdown series and we shouldn't expect a patch.

End of an era, you guys.

And giving how THQ's been working these past few years, it's more then likely for the best.

THQ has make some big strides in the past few years but...I think I agree with you. I'm tired of the Smackdown engine and all it's bugs and shoddiness. WWE '13 had such potential to be great, but the lack of basic things like nearfalls and all the other bugs is just inexcusable.

And that's not even getting into the servers.

I would like WWE '14 as well because I think if THQ knew that it was their last game and they didn't have to save stuff for future additions they'd actually give us an awesome game

Honestly, I think that's what they tried to do with WWE '13. They gave us so much content, but they skimped out on the AI.

Pretty funny I said WWE would get a new publisher and everyone held onto this belief that somehow THQ would be able to sell the WWE license....

And the character models...and universe mode which is basically the exact same as last year with stats that mean nothing because you can't reset them to just be your Universe stats....

All they really gave us was Attitude Mode....

Yeah I agree personally they didn't even try this year, other than Attitude Era the rest was slop. I wouldn't be opposed to EA getting ahold of the game for a few years. EA might be a greedy pos publisher, but atleast they put out good games, even if they are the same year after year, atleast they add enough to be worth it.

Character models are fine for the most part.

Universe the same? So having more matches per card, a fully customisable schedule where you can have 6 TV shows per week and 4 PPVs a month, and stat-tracking on an individual level, title level, and show level are all the same as WWE12? And the default stats shouldn't matter if you actually play a lot of Universe. Or if you use your own titles (or the lesser used default titles - ECW, AWA, Cena's US, etc).

So "all they really gave us" was Attitude Mode... and the hugely bolstered roster that came with it, full of wrestlers that people would otherwise waste CaW spots downloading.

The downloaded ones would look just as good as what they gave us. As for Universe they mostly just barely implemented stuff that people already asked for. There was nothing new or exciting that people didn't expect (Something really interesting like some more involved forms of feuds more like a HCTP season mode or something new like that...) and it's still riddled in bugs considering most people have so many problems with it.

The stat tracking is dumb. Im never going to break Cena's reign of having a year long title reign so those ratings are just done with. I'll never know how many times people won my titles because I dont know how many times they won the other titles. There should be an option to look at every stat or look at just your universe's stats. There's no reason this isn't there. Assuming you play most of the matches you'll get throuhg like 2 years tops in the game that's not enough to get a good amount of stats.

I have to agree with this. I have downloaded way more females than males so far simply because of all of the attitude era wrestlers that were already in game.

As long as an even better Universe mode returns along with all the customization we have and a community creations type system is carried over/implemented I guess I could deal with EA being the publisher.

I played the crap out of All Stars. I thought that was a great game, better than the serious wwe series. Reminded me more of the best wrestling games to date, wrestlemania 2000 and no mercy

Now be careful cuz we MIGHT get Vendetta or the even better Fight For New York...or we could end up with the steaming pile of garbage that was Icon. You also gotta remember the two good ones were largely developed by AKI with input from EA Canada and were just published by EA. Icon was done in house and it's just plain bad.

While I think most of us would like to hammer that last nail into the coffin of this series and WWE's partnership with THQ / Yuke's (Who's more largely to blame for the flaws in these games the past few years IMO.) We still need to be apprehensive, and also realize the growing pains that are inevitably going to arise from this.
