Mind controlling Ethereal?

I managed to confirm this is possible last night during my game. I had a Support soldier with Mind Control, 71 base Will. +20 Will from PSI Armour =91. +20(?) From PSI Inspiration ability from another soldier gave me 42% against the Ethereal. That failed to take regardless of how many times I reloaded and replayed that last turn of the mission. Then next mission I loaded the same soldier up with a Mind Shield also. Final total: 151 Will with a funky extra icon next to it? Maybe it meant she was "Hardened" now? Anyhow, at with Base+Armor+PSI buff+Mind Shield = 100% control. DONE!

You will eventually get an armor called PSI Armor. The armor enhances psi abilities. So, once your psi soldier has some equipped it should be much easier. I have successfully mind-controlled a bunch of ethereals so far.

You will need to boost Will as high as possible with any of: Psi Armor, Psi Inspiration (level 2 Psi ability), and Combat Drugs from Support's Smoke Grenade. Also helps to lower the enemy's Will with Mindfray, but that will also be tough. Even in ideal conditions you probably will have to try with odds between 20-40%.

The Mind Shield, made from the corpses of ethereals, gives you a +50 bonus to your Will. (cant remember right now if that is counting Psi Amor or without Psi Armor) That will also help greatly boost your chances. I recall having a Sniper with 81 will before bonuses, with Psi Armor and a Mind Shield, and a Psi Inspiration boost from an ally, he was able to get a 80% chance to Mind Control an Ethereal. Once you get one, you can NOT use it to Mind Control other aliens, which is a pity, but you CAN use the Psi Powers it has that humans cant get.

^ Logan_Wolfe is wrong, the Mind Shield does not grant you +50 Will, it grants you +50 Will to defend against ENEMY psionic attacks. Unless it's bugged, it will not improve your MC odds whatsoever.
The #1 factor is your soldier's base Will score, something that was randomly determined, minus lost will from critical damage throughout the game. Many of my Psi troops only have 60-65 Will and their Mind Control options are junk. With ~80 base Will on a good psi troop Edalborez's comments are spot on, and I'm seeing 20-40% chances as well.
