I had no idea that this would become one of the most satisfying and addictive games I've played in a very long time. The research and strategy of the global conflict is incredibly satisfying and well done. The combat system is smooth as butter, the perks and upgrades totally useful, the enemies are varied and powerful in their own ways, and the replay value is through the roof. If there has to be a snag, it is the steep learning curve. The tutorial is helpful, to get the mechanics of the game, but doesn't suggest any real strategy. But once you have the mechanics, you won't care and you will go back and replay as many times as you have to to get it right. And then you can turn up the difficulty and do it all over again. You can have my copy of this game-- when you pry it from my cold dead fingers.

An addictive, absolutely enjoyable turn-based/base-management strategy game. Also you get to kill bushels of aliens.

Difficulty might be a turn-off to some (and a turn-on to others), but you can't deny its replayability.
