XCOM: Enemy Unknown User Review
- Difficulty:
- Hard
- Time Spent:
- 20 to 40 Hours
- The Bottom Line:
- "Disappointing"
Ok, let's see, I am playing the X-COM and UFO series since forever (meaning ALL of them), and I was sooooo excited when I knew a new game is coming to the series! However, and let's be honest here, the game turned to be a disappointment... a huge one.
1. Graphics. Best ever! No doubt, graphically this is the best game that came out in the X-COM and UFO series. Well, logically. Last game = best graphics. However, the game is beautiful.
2. Game play. Awful!
- I mean... shots going through solid objects without damaging them, REALLY solid objects, not just a wall or two.
- Aliens not playing if not in sight, except for killing civilians... but how many times you got attacked unexpected? Zero, right?
- Setting a long move route - that will continue the next turn - seems to be impossible
- Reloading. Guys, really... I think reloading needs ammo, not just air! All the guns in the game seem not to require any...
- Production. This was really funny. Spending days in researching is ok, but then - producing 5 pieces of high-tech equipment just before the mission... instantly. Pity.
- UFO shooting was like in the first versions of the game... just a biiiiit better graphics. Is that all you came up with??
3. Sound and music. Was ok, nothing special to mention there.
Overall: Well, I DID played it... so it can not be THAT bad. But is one of the worst games in the series for sure, despite the nice graphics.

The only thing I am eager for right now in the game industry is more XCOM.

Difficulty might be a turn-off to some (and a turn-on to others), but you can't deny its replayability.

A remake with Less, add a twist and add stability issues.
