Yu-Gi-Oh! World Championship 2008 is a great improvement from the 2007 version. This game is by far the best Yu-Gi-Oh! game you could ever play that does not involve crazy rules or objectives (ie. Falsebound Kingdom or Dungeon Dice Monsters). This game has everything a Yu-Gi-Oh! game should, and will be enjoyable for many months to come.
The gameplay is smooth and fast, with plenty of options on the battlefield (such as choosing which Card Slot your monster will go), and with the touch screen capability, things get easier. The deck menu is easy to browse, and so are the Main menu options. The music is easy to listen to with a great mixture of songs depending on the duel type. The story does not drag like 07, and you can duel harder people anytime you want at the World Championship mode. The graphics on some of the monsters are harsh at times, but the surrounding views, board, and Field effects are easy on the eye. But enough about what it always has, here are some key features of the game:
- The card list, aside from the Ban list is updated to todays lot, which brings a lot more into the collecting and building element.
- There are Leaderboards and Downloadable content (feels like a 360).
- Your character is fully customizable, and more items are added to it as you progress.
- There is an in depth training/introduction class for beginning duelists, which has Test Duels after every demonstration.
- Duel puzzles are brought back, which boggle the mind and earn you easy cash.
- Although not available at first, it is possible to duel in a Tag Team match, both in the story, and wirelessly with others.
- The Wifi is worldwide, so you can duel with anyone!
- World Championship mode allows players to duel famous characters/monsters from the show anytime they want.
- You can choose the text that your characters says during duels.
- You can appoint a key card, which is your best card, or just your favorite.
- This time, the 3 cards that come with the game are VERY useful, that is, if you play the TCG.
Of course the battles get tiresome at times, when you are constantly taking on the same character, but after a while that enemy gets stronger, and the CPU decks change accordingly for extra kick against you as a growing duelist. Oh! As for downloadable content...so far you can get:
- New Duel puzzles
- New random cards
- New Ghost opponents for WC mode.
- New card lists/restrictions
Not enough? Go out and try it for yourself then. For a Yu-Gi-Oh! game, this one is the best, and provides hours of fun. See you on the battlefield.

I thought I'd just make a quick video for Yu-Gi-Oh Stairway to the Destined Duel because it's one of the games I'm playing right now and it's pretty fun I just picked an easy opponent for this video.Posted Jun 28, 2008

I battle Marik Ishtar and win. I beat him real quickly, this was the fastest I have ever beatean him. During the battle I get a level 4 monster who I power up to have 3100 attack :). I hade to use VBA to make a video out of this game. Enjoy!Posted Jan 3, 2007
